David's brace stopped East Bengal's winning streak and a step forward toward the title

Mohammedan Sporting took a step towards the title with 35 points from 14 matches.

Mohammedan Sporting stopped East Bengal’s winning streak in the ongoing CFL Premier Division. The Black Panthers edge past the Red-and-Gold brigade 2-1 in their crucial match of the Premier Division’s Super-Six encounter at Kishore Bharati Stadium on Wednesday.

David Lalhlansanga once again guided the Black Panthers to take a step forward towards the title by scoring twice on the day. Mohammedan Sporting will accomplish the hat-trick if they can finally in the ongoing CFL and in a bid to fulfil their accomplishment David has already established himself as the key catalyst.

The opportunist striker from Mizoram slotted home in the 5th minute from a floater from right, capitalizing on East Bengal defender Unnikrishnan's failure to clear the ball. The striker who took his tally to 17 so far, doubled the lead in the 38th minute. The three-touch goal was excellent, initiating from the left. Still, East Bengal's defense cannot excuse their poor organization within the box for allowing David to control the ball with his left foot and jab in. Surprisingly East Bengal's defence looked to allow David to move freely in the penetrative zone.

On the other hand, East Bengal seemingly desperate for the three points fielded footballers like Nandakumar Sekar, and Kamaljit Singh who are expected to participate in the forthcoming ISL. It was not that they failed to create opportunities. Still, the lack of conversion ability and Mohammedan Sporting custodian Padam Chhetri's splendid show turned out to be the obstruction.

However, East Bengal which is stuck at 30 points after 13 matches, reduced the margin through a spot-kick from Nandakumar Sekar in the 60th minute.

David received Rs 5000 for being chosen the man of the match and Mohammedan Sporting took a step towards the title with 35 points from 14 matches.
