Debutant in IWL NITA Football Academy’s initiative to place the ‘under-previleged’ potential girls in a stable life through football

The academy has so far registered 20 footballers for the league, and she also  informed plans are there to rope in foreign players before the League starts.

After Odisha FC and Sports Odisha, Indian women’s football is going to witness another women’s football team in the mainstream of Indian women’s football. They are NITA Fooball Academy. The academy based in Cuttack will be participating in the elite IWL scheduled to start from 10th January. NITA Football Academy has earned qualification after being the runners-up in the IWL qualifiers.

But the academy has a different vision. That is to bring up under-previleged young potential girls from the region and offer them a stable life through football.

NFA is based in Cuttack. Having started two years ago, the academy has already 68 students so far. Paromita Sit, who has been working as the coach of this academy for the last three months had a high appreciation for the Academy’s top brass, especially the chairman Subrata Das for his relentless effort to encourage and promote the potential young girls through football.

While speaking to Parallel Sports, Paromita revealed, “Subrata Sir has done a lot. He personally took the initiative to upscale the underprivileged kids. NITA Academy provides boarding facilities to its students and offers schooling and logistics support to those who came from needy backgrounds.”

Paromita added, “He had to face a lot of hurdles but created the team in only two years and the team became runner-up in the IWL-2. I also believe that the girls will deliver their best in the IWL also.”

The coach also praised the Odisha Sports Ministry.

Sit further stated, “We are nurturing the budding sportsmanship among the young players. They are trying to develop the football fraternity.”

NITA has another academy, on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar also.

With three years at Sports Odisha and a year as assistant coach for the Under-19 Men's Team, Paromita has also coached a youth boys' team at South India United Academy in Bengaluru. Aware of the competitive demands of the IWL, she noted that the academy has already registered 20 footballers and is planning to bring in foreign players before the League begins.
