Deepak Bhoria and Nishant Dev enter in last eight of the World Boxing Championship

In the first round, Bhoria utilized his swift movement and accurate punches.

Deepak Bhoria and Nishant Dev moved into the quarterfinals of the Men's World Boxing Championship in Tashkent, Uzbekistan on Tuesday.

Bhoria, playing against Zhang Jiamoa of China, won the bout 5 – 0. He had complete supremacy in the game right from the beginning. In the first round, Bhoria utilized his swift movement and accurate punches. In the second round, he started defensively but in counterattacks landed some hard punches on the opponent. In the third round, Zhang tried to attack Bhoria but the latter was too quick to defend those attacks and won the bout easily.

Bhora, who defeated the Olympic bronze medallist and 2021 World Champion Saken Bibossinov, 5-2 in the earlier round will face Diushebaev Nurzhigit of Kyrgyzstan in the quarterfinals. A win in the last eight will ensure a medal. After the bout, Bhoria said, "Today I tried to get the momentum early in the bout and lure my opponent before striking accurate punches. I will give my best in the quarterfinals and win a medal for India."

On the other hand, Nishant registered a win by RSC (Referee stopped bout) in the first round against Nidal Foqahaa of Palestine. Foqahaa tried to take advantage of his height but Nishant used a combination of heavy punches over his opponent forcing the referee to stop the bout. Nishant will face Jorge Cuellar of Cuba in the quarterfinals.

Seasoned boxer Hussamuddin (57 kg) will face J Diaz Ibanez in another quarterfinal.

Two Indian boxers Sachin Siwach (54 Kg) and Akash Sangwan (67 Kg) lost their respective bouts to end their run in the championship.
