Solicitor General Tushar Mehta informed the court that the FIR will be made today evening.
Delhi police have told Supreme Court that it will file an FIR today over the complaints by women wrestlers regarding sexual harassment against WFI Chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. Seven women wrestlers including one minor filed a complaint against him on 21st April.
The wrestlers have approached Supreme Court for an urgent hearing and in response the Supreme Court issued the notice to Delhi Police. Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, who appeared for Delhi Police, informed the court that the FIR will be made today evening.
Earlier the Delhi Police had delayed filing the case stating that they need time to investigate over the complaint alleged by the protesting wrestlers.
Senior advocate Kapil Sibal, appearing for the wrestlers, told the Court that they seek an investigation against Brij Bhushan monitored by a retired judge. He also sought police protection for the minor wrestler who has made allegations of sexual harassment.
On Friday’s hearing, Chief Justice directed the Delhi Police to ensure the safety of the minor girl. Ahead of Friday’s hearing Sangeeta Phogat, wife of Bajrang Punia, and a nationally ranked wrestler, told to ANI that the protest will continue till Brij Bhushan Sing is punished.
