M. S. Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja’s late surge went in vain as Rajasthan Royals (RR) won by three runs over Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the Chepauk Stadium on Wednesday.
With 21 runs needed in the final over Dhoni smashed Sandeep Sharma for a couple of sixes but the last three deliveries of Sharma were right on the block hole resulting in only three singles as CSK managed 172/6 in response to 175/6 in the stipulated 20 overs.

The hosts got off to a slow start after losing in form batter Ruturaj Gaikwad for 8 only. Ajinkya Rahane and Conway added 68 runs before Ashwin trapped Rahane LBW. RR spinners were getting their length from the beginning and Ashwin was the best among them.
Earlier Dhoni won the toss and elected to bat and a half-century from Jos Buttler assisted by opening partner Padikkal helped RR to score a target of 176 runs.
