While The IndianExpress conversed with a source, they stated - “We are yet to hear from him”. 
However, it is assumed that the former CSK captain and CSK already made a decision. The return of the former Indian captain from his USA vacation further fueled the conspiracy.

The source further said, “Once the BCCI makes a formal decision on the number of retentions, we will have a clear picture”.

The New Rules for Mega Auction; 
At present, rumors are swirling that the retention limit for the IPL 2025 mega auction is set to increase to five players, marking an expansion from the four retained in the last mega auction. No Right to Match (RTM) cards will be permitted in the mega auction, and teams may only retain a maximum of two international players. However, this has not yet been officially confirmed.
