The paddler already has established his prominence by playing semi-final in the state championship last year, losing to Rupam Sardar.
Rajdeep Sen, one of the promising paddlers of Bengal once seemed to have lost the desire of settling as a table tennis player when he was admitted by his parents at a local club in North 24 Parganas. The reason was there. After being admitted to a local club by his parents to learn the game in 2018 Rajdeep became the victim of utmost negligence and disregard. He was only seven years old at that time. He finally had to leave the club with extreme level of psychological distress.
His new innings as a table tennis student began at Sinthee Corus under the guidance of former India international paddler Souvik Kar.
Rajdeep’s progress started gradually. He started playing the finals and semi-finals of different state-ranking tournaments, being perfectly nurtured by Souvik.
The progress continued and the 9th standard student of Aditya Academy has earned his maiden berth in the under-15 national team for the forthcoming WTT Youth Contender championship, to be held in Bangkok from 10th to 17th September.
Currently, the Bengal's second-ranked paddler in the under-15 category will be participating also in the Under-17 category along with Under-15 singles and mixed doubles events. He said, “I am feeling excited as well as a little bit tensed as this will be my first international tournament. I will have to deliver my best.”
The negligence that he used to receive during his initial days at the local club has increased his determination, Rajdeep asserted, “Since I left the club, I set an aim that I must have to prove my mettle one day and today I feel I have been able to prove that I was not that mediocre as a player who deserves the utmost negligence and disregard.”
