The result of the US Open confirmed that for the first time since 2002, Djokovic will exit the game without any of the Grand Slam titles.
First time in 18 years the US Open witnessed Novak Djokovic’s earliest exit from the game. The Djoker was defeated in the third round by Alexei Popyrin, the 28th-ranked Aussi player, which surely raised questions about his career in the future. This defeat is leaving him agonisingly close once more in securing a record 25th Grand Slam title.
The Joker will leave without a Grand Slam title for the first time since 2017 as defeat was marked by his uncharacteristic 14 double faults as well as 49 unforced errors in the four sets.
The result of the US Open confirmed that for the first time since 2002, Djokovic will exit the game without any of the Grand Slam titles as Sinner dethroned from his world record of holding the title for a combined 428 weeks for Australian Open champion. Followed by Carlos Alcaraz claiming the French Open and outplaying him in the Wimbledon final.
Alexei Popyrin stated - "I played some good tennis, to be in the fourth round of a Grand Slam by beating the greatest of all time is unbelievable.”
After this frustrating year, Djokovic’s only consolation is the gold medal in the Paris Olympics 2024.
