Double crown for Ankur; Moumita wins women's singles

Moumita Dutta clinched the women’s singles title with a 4-0 triumph against Alolika Sen.

Ankur Bhattacharya recorded a double crown in the state table tennis championship, winning both men's singles and the under-19 singles titles on Tuesday. The competition, in memory of the late Jayanta Pushilal was held at Burabazar Yubak Sangha from 5th to 12th November.

Ankur who will be touring to Sweden to take part in the Youth World Championship at the end of this month trounced Anirban Ghosh 4-0. This was Ankur’s third men’s title in the state championship. In the under-19 singles final he outsmarted Rupam Sardar 4-1.

Moumita Dutta clinched the women’s singles title with a 4-0 triumph against Alolika Sen. Prizes were given by BSTTA president Swapan Bannerjee, secretary Sharmi Sengupta and the national coach Sourav Chakrabarty. The total prize money of the tournament was Rs 1 lakh 70 thousand.
