DRS Drama in IPL Final: was Gurbaz deprived of administrative failure?

Ravi Shastri was surprised to have seen the third umpire decision on Gurbaz's LBW

In a dramatic twist during last night's IPL final, an incident during KKR's innings left fans and players alike questioning the reliability of the Decision Review System (DRS). The drama unfolded at the 8.5 over mark with the scoreboard reading 102/1. SRH spinner Shabaz Ahmed delivered a ball to KKR batter Rahmanullah Gurbaz, who attempted a sweep shot that sent the ball towards the boundary. Despite the boundary, SRH's wicketkeeper immediately appealed for an LBW, and the on-field umpire raised his finger, declaring Gurbaz out.

Gurbaz, confident of his stroke, promptly signaled for a DRS review. However, what followed was an unexpected technological blunder. The third umpire, after reviewing the footage, communicated back to the field with the message: "Nothing conclusive, stay with your original decision." This left Gurbaz out on 39 runs off 32 balls, much to the dismay of KKR fans.

Commentator Ravi Shastri surprised to have seen the third umpire decision, explaining that "ultra edge and ball line technology has gone down". It is learnt that, the third umpire was unable to utilize the crucial ball tracking technology to LBW call on that particular moment of the match, resulting in a wasted DRS review for KKR and leaving everyone in the dark about whether the decision was indeed correct.
