Debashis Dutta, the secretary of Mohun Bagan, Ishtiaque Ahmed, the secretary of Mohammedan Sporting, and Debabrata Sarkar from East Bengal convened the joint-media conference.
At a time when the supporters of Kolkata's three big teams raised their voices spontaneously and unitedly, demanding ‘Justice for RG Kar’ and raised voice against the cancellation of scheduled Durand Cup derby, the club administrators were seen defending them.
The secretary from Mohun Bagan and Mohammedan Sporting, Debashis Dutta and Ishtiaque Ahmed, respectively, and East Bengal's senior official Debabrata Sarkar defended their stand on the burning issue where they were maintaining apathetic attitude on the issue for last few days.
Replying to some bold questions from a section of media, present at the joint-media conference convened by the three clubs at the Calcutta Sports Journalists Club on Tuesday, they said, "We are not administrators. So we cannot ask for clarification from the administration about their decision to cancel the Durand Cup 'derby'." The derby was scheduled for the 18th of August at the Yuba Bharati Krirangan.
However, it is learned that Durand Cup semifinal and final which were earlier planned to shift from Kolkata, the scheduled venue is likely to return to the city. It is also learned that the Police has given a green signal regarding the issue.

Coming out of the isolation from the ongoing burning issue of constant protest against the rape and murder of the female trainee doctor, the three senior officials finally issued a statement jointly saying, “We also want justice for the victim and demand severe punishment of the criminals, involved in the incident.”
