Both East Bengal and Mohun Bagan will now move to the final round of the League.
Probably for the first time in the last couple of years, East Bengal registered a convincing 2-0 victory in a derby against Mohun Bagan. Although it was Reliance under-21 Youth Football League still the excitement and enthusiasm among fans of both teams were seen at Naihati Stadium on Friday. Both East Bengal and Mohun Bagan will now move to the final round of the League.
Both goals were scored by a 19-year-old young striker Kush Chettri who despite being born in Manipur used to play in Kerala.
Bino George however was happy and said, "We could have won the match even 4-0. We dominated most of the time. Bino also had praise for Kush and a few boys mentioning, "They are potential. That is why the club has given them long-term contracts. I believe these potential youth footballers can be promoted to the senior team also. Even I believe these boys should be played in the Kolkata Premier League this season. That will be the perfect exposure for them."
But Bino does not know whether East Bengal will renew his contract.
The first Pro-licensed coach from Kerala said, "My contract with East Bengal is ending on 31st May. The club has not yet talked to me. So, now I am concentrating on Youth League. Our campaign starts in the next week."
