East Bengal building up a star-studded team for the IWL

The list proudly features the name of national team captain Loitongbam Ashalata Devi. Her leadership and defensive prowess will be a significant asset to the team.

East Bengal is set to build up a star-studded women’s team for the Indian Women’s League (IWL).  The team registered some of the best potentials from the national football team. 

The list proudly features the name of national team captain Loitongbam Ashalata Devi, who joins on a permanent transfer from Gokulam Kerala FC. Her leadership and defensive prowess will be a significant asset to the team.

The national team goalkeeper Elangbam Panthoi Chanu also set to appear donning the red and golden jersey. Previously, Chanu had played for the Australian club Metro United, the team can certainly utilise her international experience in the game. 

The India team captain from the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in 2022 and the fierce national defender Astam Oraon also committed to East Bengal. 

Anju Tamang, the national team forward is also set to conquer the opponents donning the red golden jersey. 

And lastly, the India team defender Sweety Devi Ngangbam, with a permanent transfer from Odisha FC joined the East Bengal camp for the upcoming Indian Women's League, assuring more strength for the defence line.

The East Bengal club is coming up with a new force to showcase the game prowess. The Red and Yellow brigade is all set for a promising IWL season.
