East Bengal champion in RFDL East Zone Qualifier, Club trying to rope in Australian striker

East Bengal and Adamas United Sports Academy, both the teams qualified for the national stage of the tournament.

East Bengal trounced Adamas United Sports Academy 3-0 in their RFDL East Zone qualifiers at the Barrackpore Stadium on Wednesday, becoming the group league champion to enter in the all India phase already before one scheduled match. 

Abhishek Kunjam broke the deadlock in the 50th minute. The scoreline was doubled by Tanmoy Das in the 52nd minute through a brilliant right-footed long range drive from the right and Razibul Mishtry sealed opposition’s fate in the 93rd minute.

East Bengal and Adamas United Sports Academy, both the teams qualified for the national stage of the tournament. 

The Red-and-Gold brigade has garnered 14 points after their eight matches while Adamas has earned the second spot with 13 points in as many matches. 

In another match of the RFDL East Zone Qualifier, Mohun Bagan Super Giants (MBSG) split points with Jamshedpur FC laying out a 1-1 draw at Rabindra Sarobar Stadium on Wednesday. 

Bivan Jyoti Laskar drew first blood for Jamshedpur FC in the 17th minute while Fardin Ali Mollah equalized the score-line for the Green-and-Maroon brigade. 

However, East Bengal Club is reportedly trying to rope in Jamie Maclaren for the next season. Jamie Maclaren, the five-time golden boot winner and the all-time leading scorer in Australian League who was the captain of Melbourne City FC, has reportedly been offered for one year by East Bengal. But it is learned that the striker has offers from Croatian and second division La liga clubs as well.
