East Bengal get back to winning ways against city-rival Mohammedan SC

East Bengal garnered 21 points from their 21st match while Mohammedan SC, rooted at the bottom, are placed on the 13th with 11 points from 20 matches so far.

The Red and Gold Brigade reign supreme in the Kolkata Derby, trouncing Mohammedan Sporting 3-1 in their ISL match at the Salt Lake Stadium on Sunday.

David Lalhlansanga’s late strike sealed a commanding 3-1 victory for East Bengal after earlier goals from Saul Crespo and Mahesh Naorem. Despite a spirited fightback from Mohammedan, with Franca pulling one back, it wasn’t enough. 

Earlier, Mahesh Singh drew first blood for the Red-and-Gold brigade in the 27th minute while Soul Crespo whose performance was under scanner doubled the lead thanks to miserable defensive organization from the Black-and-White brigade. Franca reduced the margin from a Ravi Hasda long through to make the scoreline 1-3.
