In the Naihati stadium East Bengal today faced Silong Lajong in the 2nddivision I-league. Pursonop scored the winning goal of the match in the second half. The Lajong team fielded the side of five players who represented in the recently concluded  Santosh Trophy. Lajong started in a very attacking note. Despite that they missed a number of chances. East Bengal on the other hand also got chances but muffed away. East Bengal coach Binu Jorge after the game admitted that the North Eastern team definitely played better today. He said “ WE didn’t play well today. We missed couple of chances which we should rectify. Hope we get a lesson from this and will present better games from the next.”
On the other hand Lajong coach Boby Lingdo Nongbet looked very happy and told “ Our main constraint was the hot weather. We are happy that we have overcome this weather and won the match. After 2017 we again have got the opportunity to play the I-league and we look forward to utilize this chance”
