Kolkata Mayor Firhad Hakim inaugurated the "Members Lounge" at the East Bengal Club on Sunday. Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs Arup Biswas was also present there as a chief guest. Budhyadeb Dutta, Regional Head of Officers Choice, Sanjoy Dutta Gupta, and Sanjib Swarup directors of Mega Group were present at the inaugural function along with the former players, officials, and members of the club. Amaresh Chowdhury, grandson of Suresh Chowdhury, the founder of the Club graced the occasion.

In the inaugural speech, Firhad Hakim said, this is the first of its kind. The foreign clubs have a lounge for the members. East Bengal has now shown the way. He also added that the Club should win trophies, which should be the primary aim, otherwise, all these things are meaningless.
