East Bengal, shrugging off their derby disaster with a 1-5 defeat at the hands of Mohun Bagan Super Giants (MBSG) in the last match, defeated Mohammedan Sporting 2-0 on Thursday. 

The Red-and-Gold brigade earned qualification also with the victory, securing third in the table and will face the team standing at the top of the League table. 

In that case, the team might face Adamas United Sports Academy. The top four teams shall play again and then top two shall qualify for the national group stages.

Adamas has garnered 11 points in six matches so far while MBSG also has gathered 11 points but they have taken part in seven matches so far. East Bengal also has garnered 11 points from seven matches and United Sports Club is in the fourth position with nine points from seven matches. 

Mohammedan Sporting’s Joseph Lalmuanawma gave his opposition a lead in the 52nd minute with a suicidal goal. Shyamal Besra doubled the lead for the winner. 

In another match of the League Mohun Bagan Super Giants (MBSG) however split points with United SC playing out a 2-2 draw at Rabindra Sarobar Stadium on Thursday. 

Sujal Munda gave United SC the lead in the 15th minute. Dipendu Biswas equalized in the 33rd minute. Suhail Bhat gave MBSG a desirable lead in the 56th minute but Dipendu Biswas helped United SC get points by a suicidal goal in the 59th minute.
