East Bengal has decided to rope in Jordan’s national footballer Hijazi Maher replacing Jordan Elsey for the ongoing season.

The 26-year-old central defender who was one of the key members of Zakho SC joined Al-Hussein SC on loan after 31st May this season. He last represented Jordan in a friendly match against Serbia on 17th June this year. Serbia won the match by 3-2 goals. 

According to reports from Jordan’s local newspapers, Hijazi exhibited a noticeable performance in the Iraqi premier league for Zakho FC against famous Al-Zawraa in April. The match ended 1-1. 

East Bengal’s Australian defender Jordan Elsey sustained a knee injury during the Durand Cup final and he had to leave after being ruled out of the game for several months.
