East Bengal suffer loss in their first away game of IWL

Kajol D’Souza scored a splendid brace in the win for Sethu FC.

Sixth-ranked East Bengal faced disappointment again as they lost 2-0 in their trip to Goa. With this result, the Red and Gold remain winless in the last eight matches in the Indian Women’s League. Their only three points of the season came against relegation-battler Sports Odisha on opening day. They have also conceded the second-most goals in the league with 21.

East Bengal conceded the goals in each half from the same scorer, Kajol D’Souza. Last season’s top goal-scorer gave the home side an early lead before sealing the victory in the 63rd minute. Dipankar Biswas’s team were toothless in attack again managing just one shot on target in the entire match. New signing Bangladeshi international Sanjida Akhter failed to show her impact on the game as well.
