East Bengal’s winning streak continues with the victory in ‘Derby’

PV Vishnu drew first blood for East Bengal in the early second half while Jesin TK doubled the lead. Suhail Bhat reduced margin in the dying minutes.

East Bengal continued their winning streak in the ongoing CFL Premier Division, winning three consecutive matches. The Red-and-Gold brigade edged past arch-rivals Mohun Bagan by 2-1 in their third match on Saturday at the Yuba Bharati Krirangan.

PV Vishnu drew first blood for East Bengal in the early second half while Jesin TK doubled the lead. Suhail Bhat reduced the margin in the dying minutes of the match.

East Bengal had to play with 10 men after Josef Justin was sent off in the later part of the second half.

Mohun Bagan are stuck with two points after their third match while East Bengal progressed with nine points in three games so far.

Considering the quality of Saturday's match, east Bengal had dominance in the first half. They also created opportunities. The scoreline could have increased in East Bengal’s favour if Mohun Bagan custodian Raja Barman had not exhibited an inspiring show.

On the other hand Mohun Bagan, despite having obtained a couple of freak chances in the first half that were wasted by Suhail Bhat, were not able to organize their attacks and midfield organisation.
