East Point School shows ‘empowerment of girls’ through its annual sports

Former India international footballer Alvito D Cunha was the chief guest in the function.

East Point School, Ichapur showed the ‘empowerment of girls’ through its annual sports which took place at its school ground on Sunday. Nearly 500 students took part in the annual sports. The theme of the sports was the empowerment of girls through sports. 

A 10th-standard girl constructed a mini private plane and a drone that had a splendid exhibition across the sky. 

This apart the students took part in different events like a sprint, 200 meters, relay race, shot-put, and High and Long Jumps. The students also exhibited a dance program in the opening ceremony. 

Rahul Singh, one of the school's Directors, revealed on the occasion, "In a bid to involve our students in sports we have already been running four academies, on football, Cricket, Chess, and Skating. We have a ground for playing football. Alongside, we have constructed two nets and pitches. Our motive is to encourage the students on sports along with studies." 

Sandrata Roy, the ninth standard student of East Point School has already become inspiration for the other students, exhibiting her shooting prowess. The shooter has become the state champion in the senior women's 10M Air Rifle  competition this year. She also set a state record in the Youth Women category in her event, scoring 625.9 points this year.

However, former India international footballer Alvito D Cunha was the chief guest in the function.

Its a great pleasure of being a part of this school. Apart from the excellent academic sessions, the school also tries it's best to appreciate sports which makes an incredible impact on every student. Thanks to the Principal, the Teachers and the whole Management Staff for their support.
