Mohammedan Sporting has decided to extend contract with its Honduras striker Eddie Hernandez for another season.
The news of David Lalhlansanga’s signing for East Bengal for the next season is still not true according to Mohammedan Sporting top brass.
One of the club’s senior executives revealed on condition of anonymity on the issue, “We are having talks with David almost every day. He is also keen to continue with us. David is also aware of the fact that if we ensure berth in the ISL then he will have more match-exposure than any other team.”
Significantly, Mohammedan Sporting’s investor group Bunkerhill director Dipak Singh recently commented that David should be treated like a foreign footballer due to his consistency this season so far.
However, the club’s top brass has decided to extend contract with its Honduras striker Eddie Hernandez for another season.
The striker with 13 goals so far in the ongoing I-League has already become one of the contenders for the highest scorer’s award in the League.
Eddie after scoring a brace against Neroca FC on Sunday held the team’s spirit as the key reason behind the team’s consistent show in the League. He commented, “Our key strength is that we never give up. All of us fought and delivered their best in every match. That is why we have been the best.”
Commenting on own performance, the Honduras striker added, “Due to the understanding with teammates and their co-operation I have been able to score goals. I promise to maintain this consistency in the forthcoming matches also.”
However, East Bengal suffered a blow as the club’s national defender Lalchungnunga has been ruled out of the remainder of the season due to serious injury.
East Bengal may have to play without his service in upcoming matches. The club has already started looking for domestic defender to replace him in summer.
