Haaland’s existing contract with Manchester City is scheduled to expire in the summer of 2027.
In an interesting turn of the proceedings, Erling Haaland reportedly wants his present club Manchester City to keep a 'release clause' in his contract! According to Marca, the Spanish daily, the 'release clause' is aimed at a switch over to Real Madrid or Barcelona in the future!
Haaland’s existing contract with Manchester City is scheduled to expire in the summer of 2027. Manchester City reportedly wants to hand the star forward a contract extension.
Haaland joined Manchester City from Borussia Dortmund in 2022 on a five-year deal. The reigning Premier League champions activated a release clause of 60 million pounds to complete his signing. Haaland’s current contract with Manchester City already has a 200 million pounds release clause that came into effect this summer. It was reportedly meant for non-Premier League clubs.
The release clause, according to the existing contract will reportedly decrease to 175 million pounds by 2025 and it might go even lower in the following year.
The lethal striker, however, wants to modify this in his next contract. Real Madrid, reportedly, kept their eyes on the Norwegian forward last summer. The La Liga giants would have made a move for him had they failed to secure the signing of Kylian Mbappe from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).
Last year, Erling Haaland’s agent Rafaela Pimenta spoke about Real Madrid’s transfer ambitions. “There is the Premier League, and there is Real Madrid, and Real Madrid has something of its own that makes it the dreamland for the players,” Pimenta told Eurosport
