Even after a whipping 3-0 over Bayern Munich, Guardiola asks his boys to be cautious before second leg encounter

Erling Haaland sealed the opposition's fate by scoring in the 76th minute, taking his goals to 45 this season so far.

Even after a thumping 3-0 triumph over Bayern Munich on Tuesday night in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola sounded watchful. He admitted he became extremely emotional after his boys delivered a brilliant show, but altered them saying the boys would have to show 'huge personality' in the reverse quarter-final fixture against Bayern Munich on 18th April at midnight (according to Indian time).

Rodri broke through the deadlock in the 27th minute, unleashing a superb left-footed long ranger while Bernardo Silva doubled the lead in the 70th minute and Erling Haaland sealed the opposition's fate by scoring in the 76th minute, taking his goals to 45 this season so far.

He said: "It was not comfortable. Emotionally I'm destroyed. I have 10 more years today. It was such a demanding game. Now I have to relax, have a day off for the guys, and prepare for Leicester.

"I know exactly what you have to do there (at Bayern). If you don't perform really well they are able to score one, two, or three. I know that. The players know that.

“It’s an incredible result, but we have to do (play) our game with huge, huge personality.”

City took the lead in the first half following a sensational long-range effort from midfielder Rodri to give Guardiola’s side the advantage going into half-time.

Bernardo Silva then doubled the scoreline for City in the 70th minute with a close-range header, before Erling Haaland stroked the ball past Yann Sommer to put the Premier League side in a comfortable position going into the second leg.

Rodri, 26, said after the game that he was pleased to score his first Champions League goal but would not get carried away with the result, insisting the tie is not over. While speaking to BT Sport, Rodri stated, "It was very special for me to score my first goal in the Champions League. He added, “At that moment we were struggling because they are a great, great team. Sometimes we understand we cannot have 80 percent possession. They play too. We scored three and could score four but it is a great result.”Rodri also like his manager, sounded careful as he commented, "We do not think it is done. They are a good team and we are happy with the performance but we will have to try to win the game."

The city will now be playing against Leicester City in the EPL this Saturday.
