Vishal Kaith clinched the golden gloves award after winning 11-clean sheets
Despite having won the best goalkeeper's award in the ongoing ISL, ATK Mohun Bagan goalkeeper Vishal Kaith seems touched mostly by the fans' support. Before the green-and-maroon brigade's all-important match against Hyderabad FC on Monday at the Sale Lake Stadium, Kaith commented, "I was thankful to the Mohun Bagan supporters for their constant support. I cannot forget the moments when after coming out of a few second's unconsciousness during the match against Odisha FC I saw Bagan fans were cheering me. The roaring sound was reaching me as a huge boost, driving me to perform in the remaining portion of the match." Any award is inspiring. But the fan's support and respect are more special and it takes a unique place in my heart always."
Vishal admitted that he is excited to win the trophy ultimately as I have been close to the trophy for a time. He added, “This award will eventually help me to motivate myself before important matches as this is the first time I have been close to winning the title. But I should not be elated with the award. Rather I aim to become unbeaten in the next two matches, the second leg of the semi-final and the finals. I never thought I would get the scope of playing in all 21 matches for the team. The save I made against Chianese's (Hyderabad FC) header was the best one so far in the League.”
However, Mohun Bagan will have a little advantage before they take on Hyderabad FC at home on Monday as they have already earned a point from Hyderabad FC in an away match. On Monday, the second leg of the semi-final will decide whether Mohun Bagan will be locking horns in the finals or will clash out of the tournament. Vishal was seen wearing a golden armband in the first leg of Semi Final as a mark of winning the Golden Gloves of ISL 2023. He had recorded an 11-match clean sheet under the bars which gave him this shining award.
