Ex-cricket player Nagaraju arrested for fraud

Former Ranji player Nagaraju Budumuru arrested for committing financial fraud in the name of Andhra Pradesh CM.

Former Ranji player Nagaraju Budumuru was arrested for committing huge financial fraud in the name of the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister. He also played in IPL for Sunrisers Hyderabad and Ranji Trophy has been played for Andhra Pradesh for a long time. The former cricketer was arrested by the Mumbai police after the allegations of financial fraud came to light.

According to police sources, Nagaraju had committed the fraud by introducing himself as the Chief Minister’s personal assistant. He had asked the company officials over the phone to sponsor a cricketer named Ricky Bhui. It is known that he took 12 lakh rupees for sponsorship from that shop.  After that, the businessman became suspicious, so he inquired. But despite paying the money, there was no response from the cricket board or others, so the company lodged a complaint with the police. Nagaraju was arrested from his home in Yaveripetta in the Srikakulam district of Andhra Pradesh.

This is not the first time. Earlier, Nagaraju was arrested in 2021. He defrauded 9 service organizations of Rs 40 lakh by impersonating the secretary of Andhra Pradesh minister Koti Ramarao. So far, there are allegations of embezzling more than 3 crore rupees from a total of 60 companies in his name. Several cases have also been filed.

Incidentally, Nagaraju was in Sunrisers Hyderabad's IPL team. Also played the 2014-16 Ranji for Andhra. However, after 2018, he did not get a place on the cricket team. According to the police, Nagaraju is committing fraud as he is used to living a luxurious life. After his cricket career ended, he faced financial problems. That's why he did this.
