Napoli is on the verge of winning the Serie-A title after a span of 33 years. If they win their last match against Salernitana on Sunday and Lazio fails to beat Inter Milan on the same day, Napoli will lift the title for the third time. Napoli won Serie-A last time in 1990 by the 'hands' of god', Diego Maradona's magnificent performance and instilled all other Italian teams by its presence in world football's map.

The streets of Naples were quiet. Only sounds of TV and radios were heard as all tuned in to hear the match against Juventus. The pall was broken with sounds of whistles and cheers as Napoli scored in the stoppage time to win the tie 1– 0.

The win means if the league leaders Napoli beats local rivals Salernitana on Sunday and second-placed Lazio fails to beat Inter Milan on the same day then Napoli will win the Serie A title for the third time and first time since Diego Maradona led them to the Scudetto in 1990.

After the Juventus match the Napoli fans gathered at the airport to welcome the players. They followed the team bus on mopeds and cars back to the stadium giving a taste of what the celebration would be like if Napoli wins the title on Sunday. 

In anticipation, the residents of the city have decorated the streets with flags, banners, and blue-white plastic ribbons which crisscross the roads. Some have even recolored their house in the club’s color.

Bakeries are selling blue and white bread, bars are offering blue drinks, and pastries with the faces of Napoli players are being sold. The city is in a state of tense anticipation for a huge celebration. 

The municipal corporation has already ascertained some big squares in the city as the celebration points. To some, this celebration will mean much more than a favorite team winning the championship.
