FC Goa Bolsters Defense with Signing of Versatile Aakash Sangwan

"The club's ambitions and style of play resonate with me, and I am eager to contribute to the team's success", added Sangwan

FC Goa has strengthened their backline with the acquisition of 28-year-old left-back Aakash Sangwan. Sangwan joins the Gaurs on a multi-year deal, bringing a wealth of experience from both the I-League and Indian Super League (ISL).

Sangwan's football journey began at the Minerva Punjab Academy, where he quickly rose through the ranks. He played a pivotal role in their I-League promotion in the 2015-16 season and even scored their first-ever ISL goal in 2017-18, a crucial strike that propelled them to the league title.

"We are delighted to welcome Aakash Sangwan to FC Goa," said Lokesh Bherwani, Director of Football. “His dynamic play and experience make him a valuable addition to our team. His ability to contribute offensively and defensively aligns perfectly with our philosophy.”

Sangwan's impressive performances continued with Churchill Brothers and Roundglass Punjab before making his ISL debut with Chennaiyin FC in 2022. Over the past two seasons, he's featured in 48 matches, scoring twice and assisting ten times.

"I am excited to start this new chapter with FC Goa," said Sangwan. “The club's ambitions and style of play resonate with me, and I am eager to contribute to the team's success.”

Sangwan's arrival adds depth and competition to FC Goa's defense. With his attacking prowess and defensive solidity, he appears to be a perfect fit for the Gaurs' style of play. Both the club and the player are optimistic about achieving great things together in the upcoming season.
