Shillong Lajong suffered a devastating defeat at home as they were convincingly beaten by Aizawl FC with a 3-0 margin. Shillong has been a formidable force this season, especially when playing at home, but Aizawl FC proved to be up for the challenge and delivered a shocking upset in front of a packed crowd in Shillong.

Aizawl FC started the match brightly, taking advantage of a defensive error to open the scoring and take a 1-0 lead. Lalrinzuala Lalbiaknia was the hero of the moment, scoring his 9th goal in as many games. Aizawl continued to surprise and silence the home fans with an assist from Amawia, which Tharpuia calmly finished the chance to make it 2-0 within just 20 minutes of the match.

Despite Shillong dominating possession and creating several chances, the Aizawl defence stood strong and proved to be unbreakable. The second half began similarly for Shillong Lajong, with continuous attacks aimed at reducing the deficit. However, a goalkeeping error proved costly as Joe Zoherliana capitalized on the mistake and scored Aizawl's third goal, extending their lead to 3-0.

Shillong continued to press forward and create opportunities, but luck was not on their side. They hit the crossbar on two occasions, had a goal-line clearance, and faced some exceptional saves from the Aizawl goalkeeper, ensuring that the scoreline remained 3-0 at full-time. 

With this impressive victory, Aizawl FC now move level on points with Sreenidi Deccan in second position, both teams having accumulated 17 points so far in the season.
