Mamoni & Ashiyana Pathachakra defeated FCI 4-2 in their fourth match of the CFL Premier Division on Saturday at Mohammedan Sporting Ground. Sahil Harijan struck the hat-trick followed by Barun Oraon’s strike.
Pathachakra with 17 points so far in 16 matches is expected to get promotion to the CFL Premier Division next season although they have three more matches.
But the interesting part of the story is that Pathachakra footballers are amazed to have seen their coach, former India international Lal Kamal Bhowmick playing with them in the last couple of matches.
Lal Kamal Bhowmick has been participating in the team’s last couple of matches, but not for the full time. On Saturday he was on the pitch for around 25 minutes.
Sahil Harijan when asked for his feelings while playing his coach, stated, "Even at this age he is so accurate that we all are learning. He might have lost the speed he had in his playing days. But the accuracy level in his passing and the capacity to hold on to the ball before sending a defense-splitting pass is a lesson for all of us."
Sahil’s one goal was assisted by a wing-half and the respective footballer received the precise pass from the 38-year-old Lal Kamal Bhowmick who is playing in the CFL after four years. Subhendu Shekhar Sarkar and Prakash Das who played beside their coach in the midfield were also highly inspired.

Lal Kamal feels this team has several potential footballers. He opined, "If the same boys can be retained in the next season and if I am asked to continue then the team will make several upsets in the next season, delivering astonishing performance.”
However, among the other matches of the CFL Premier Division relegation zone on the day, George Telegraph humbled West Bengal Police 5-0. Amit Kekka (2), Rajen Orao (2), and Joy Pradhan scored for the winner. In another match, Eastern Railway and CFC shared points playing out a 2-2 draw, Police AC and Dalhousie AC also played out a 2-2 draw to share points.
