Former Cricketer Anshuman Gaekwad Passes away

Anshuman Gaekwad was conferred with the Col C.K. Nayadu Lifetime Achievement award by BCCI in 2018.

The former Indian cricketer and Coach Anshuman Gaekwad passed away at the age of 71 after a long battle with blood cancer at the Bhailal Amin General hospital in Vadodara. Entire cricket fraternity has mourned after his demise.

Few days ago the BCCI had announced one crore to support his cancer treatment, after they came to know that his family financially struggled to cope with treatment cost at London. Subsequently he had been shifted to India where the treatments continued in Vadodara.

Anshuman Gaekwad played 40 tests and 15 odi matches for India between 1975 and 1987. He had two test centuries and 10 fifties. His one of the memorable knock was against Pakistan in test cricket.  He had scored 201 runs and batted for 11 hours.  

After his retirement Anshuman Gaekwad became Indian team coach during the two year period 1997-1999. His coaching stint was no so successful and he was replaced by Kapil Dev.

Anshuman Gaekwad was conferred with the Col C.K. Nayadu Lifetime Achievement award by BCCI in 2018.
