Former footballers welcome the revolution in Kolkata Football

The footballers and the director of United Sports FC welcomed the revolution.

Kolkata Premier League shrugged off its century-old tradition on Sunday. For the first time, the premier football league reached the football fraternity through a renowned international sports OTT company, InSports TV.

Parallel Sports spoke to a few of Kolkata’s former international footballers and one of the most successful club executives about their opinion on the revolutionary change where the televising medium changed the platform, from television to OTT. The footballers and the director of United Sports FC welcomed the revolution.

Basudeb Mondol said, “The dimension has changed. The football-loving people who generally did not get time to go to the ground due to their offices will now be able to see the matches at home, even sitting at their office through their phones. It is a great effort from PR Solutions that they convinced IFA as well as InSports TV to join hands together.” Sandip Nandy, the former Indian international, and now the goalkeeping coach of Diamond Harbor FC also had praise for this revolutionary change. He stated, "I could not see yesterday in InSports due to our match. But I heard later that the coverage was excellent. More all less it will change the scenario of Kolkata football in terms of viewership.”

Debjit Ghosh, the former international and currently the coach of ASOS Rainbow also welcomed the effort commenting, “It will surely increase the viewership. Even if the gallery is packed with spectators, hundreds of football fans become curious to know about the match results. These people will now see the matches comfortably. I saw yesterday's match a little bit. The coverage and production quality were excellent."

Deepak Mondal, the former international and the assistant coach of Diamond Harbor FC is happy with the new way of watching matches this season. He opined, "It is interesting. Nowadays OTT platform means mainly movies and entertainment to us. But football on the OTT platform will make big progress shortly."

Nabab Bhattacharya, the director of United Sports FC also is happy. He was at Kishore Bharati Stadium on Sunday to watch the opening match. He opined, "It will increase viewership no doubt. Football-loving people like me will now be able to watch matches from anywhere. In today's digital world, it has been a significant move no doubt from PR Solutions to bring InSports TV. The only thing I feel is that the aged person who love to watch football and used their televisions will have difficulty in watching matches this season as everybody does not have smart TV or smartphone. Otherwise, it will be a nice experience for all of us."
