Garbine Muguruza, former French Open and Wimbledon champion, announced her engagement to her fan. Yes, that happened. She met Arthur Borges while she was in New York during the 2021 US Open. Arthur asked Muguruza for a selfie in Central Park and he went down on one knee this month.

Muguruza announced her engagement with Arthur on Instagram. The post featured a beautiful picture of the couple. "You had me at 'Hello'" Muguruza gave a shoutout to Jerry Mcguire's famous dialogue in the caption.

While talking about her love story with Arthur, Murguza said that she wanted to clear her mind before the game, so she went for a walk in Central Park. "My hotel was close to Central Park and I was bored, so I thought I should go for a walk," she told the HOLA! Spain.

"I go out and I run into him on the street. Suddenly, he turns and says, 'Good luck at the US Open.' I was left thinking, 'Wow, he's so handsome'," Muguruza added.

Murguza then continued to meet Arthur and they started spending more time together. She was attracted to him because he wasn't involved in tennis but worked in the fashion industry.

"It felt weird," she said while talking about the time before the proposal. "I was thinking something else and then when he proposed, I started crying. I didn't know how to react. I said 'yes' in the midst of tears, it was very romantic."
