Gardener's son commits suicide at Eden Gardens Gallery

East Bengal and Town Club players noticed the hanging body first before entering the ground to play the match.

One of the CAB gardeners, Ganesh Chandra Barik’s son Dhananjoy Barik committed suicide at the Eden Gardens gallery on Monday morning. Before East Bengal and Town Club’s scheduled CAB league match at the Eden Gardens, the players noticed his hanging body on the upper tier of the 'K Block', adjacent to gates number 14 and 15 when they were entering the ground.

Police have started investigating the case, although it is learned that 23-year-old Dhananjoy Barik, residing in Odisha, came to Kolkata in search of a job around two weeks ago. He might have been suffering from mental depression.

CAB joint secretary Debabrata Das stated, "It is an unfortunate incident".
