Germany to play Ukraine for peace and support the war-torn country

Germany will face Ukraine on 12th June at Bremen followed by a match against Poland at Warsaw and Colombia at Gelsenkirchen on June 16 and 20 respectively.

Germany will be playing three International friendly matches in June and their 1000th match has been set as a charity game against the war-torn Ukraine.

Germany, being the host of European Championship next year, will be able to play the qualifying stage. So they have decided to play friendly matches. Germany will face Ukraine on 12th June at Bremen followed by a match against Poland at Warsaw and Colombia at Gelsenkirchen on June 16 and 20 respectively.

“The 1000th international match is a very special event for German national team. We want to use it to send a clear signal of peace and international understanding, against war and destruction.” DFB President Bernd Neuendorf said. He further added, “That’s why we are happy that we can play an international match with and for Ukraine on the occasion of our anniversary.”

Sports Director Rudi Voeller said, “We will not only show our support to Ukraine but also provide concrete help and collect donations.”

Germany met Ukraine last in November 2020 in the Nations League and won 3–1.

Meanwhile, Ukraine will continue playing Euro 2024 qualifying matches despite the ban imposed by Government on taking part in competitions involving athletes from Russia and Belarus.
