The Global Indian Pravasi Kabaddi League (GI-PKL) is poised to make its grand debut on 18th April in Gurugram. The league’s official administrator, the Holistic International Pravasi Sports Association (HIPSA), announced the league.

This inaugural season signifies a groundbreaking shift in the sport, featuring 12 teams—six men's and six women's. Each reflecting India's rich cultural and linguistic diversity. The teams have been named to embody their regional identities:

Women's Teams: Marathi Falcons, Bhojpuri Leopardess, Telugu Cheetahs, Tamil Lioness, Punjabi Tigress, Haryanvi Eagles.

Men's Teams: Marathi Vultures, Bhojpuri Leopards, Telugu Panthers, Tamil Lions, Punjabi Tigers, Haryanvi Sharks.

Each franchise will own both a men's and a women's team, promoting equality and inclusivity—a first in kabaddi's history.

The league aims to showcase kabaddi's growing global appeal, with participation from countries such as Egypt, Kenya, Argentina, Germany, England, Norway, and Poland. This international involvement underscores the sport's expanding reach and HIPSA's commitment to promoting kabaddi worldwide.

Fans can catch the live action on the Sony Sports Network, bringing the excitement of GI-PKL to audiences across the globe.
