Gill to miss Afghanistan match also

Gill will stay in Chennai under the supervision of medical team

Star Indian batter, Shubman Gill, who is reportedly down with dengue fever, will also be missing India's second match in the ODI World Cup against Afghanistan in Delhi.

Gill had been having health issues ahead of the World Cup match against the Aussies so Ishan Kishan replaced him and opened the batting for India.

In a release, the BCCI said: “Team India batter Shubman Gill will not be travelling with the team to Delhi on 9th October 2023. The opening batter who missed the team's first fixture in the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2023 against Australia in Chennai is set to miss the team's next fixture against Afghanistan in Delhi on the 11th of October. He will stay back in Chennai and will be under the supervision of the medical team.”

Gill, a top performer for India, has an impressive 1,230 runs from 20 matches at an average of 72.35 in his bag. He is slowly but surely reaching for the No.1 spot in the ICC ODI Rankings for batters. It is mentionable that he was also the highest run-getter in India's successful Asia Cup campaign.
