Giminez says They were involved in a brawl with Colombian fans to save their family

Uruguay star Darwin Nunez and other players from their squad were involved in a brawl  with Colombian fans. The incident took place after Uruguay lost their semi-final clash against Colombia.

Colombia won the match by 1-0 against Uruguay. Jefferson Lerma scored for them on 39th minutes. Colombia played one man short entire second half. But Uruguay failed to take any advantage and lost the match to them. Colombia will face Argentina in final clash.

 After the match Uruguay footballers noticed that Colombian fans were harassing their family members in the stand and there was no police to save them. They did not control themselves and involved in an ugly fight with fans.

Video of the scene quickly went viral on social media. Uruguay star Nunez unleashed a flurry of punches at Colombian fans after jumping into the stand.

After this incident Uruguay central defender Jose Maria Giminez expressed his concern and said, “let me say something before they cut you off because they won’t let us speak into the microphone. They want me to say anything about what’s going on, but this is a disaster”. 

He added, “Please be careful our families are on the stands, there are little new born babies. It was a disaster, there was no police and we had to defend our families”.

However, ESPN had reported that CONMEBL. The governing body had started their investigation.
