Gouramangi hails from Khetmai village and he started Kago Football Training Center in 2018 there.
Gouramangi Moirangthem Singh, one of India's successful defenders, has accepted challenges from the forwards throughout the 14 years of his bright football career, both during his journey with the 11 clubs and in 71 matches with the national team.
The 37-year-old Manipuri lad has not stopped accepting challenges even after his retirement in 2018. Now, he has been facing the hurdles of a financial crisis for the last five years while running his academy Kago Football Training Center. But he has not given up and continues to overcome the challenges as his academy students have already started prospering through their performance in Manipur.
Goramangi hails from Khetmai village and he started Kago Football Training Center in 2018 there. Presently, the academy has 150 players that are divided into four age groups (under-18, under-15, under-13, and under-12) and five licensed coaches as well as a manager.
Gouramangi who is the assistant coach of the ISL team, FC Goa, has also registered his academy with a club from West Imphal named Imphal United and has also been promoted to the state team's second division being champion in the third division league last year. As a reward, the club was invited to play in one of Manipur's prestigious competitions Shahid Manoranjan Memorial trophy and it had an impressive show losing in the semifinal. Three boys from this club consisting of under-18 boys of Kago Training Center also got a call-up in the preparatory camp for the under-17 zonal championship.
But the former Indian international has to do a lot of hard work off the field to run his academy. Gouramangi speaking from Goa, "It has been difficult for me to run this academy. Still, I have not given up. In our grass route program, we manage some money by renting our ground sometimes. We have started a Pay-and-Play scheme for the children and from there some money is gathered. But this is far from the requirement." Gouranmangi has also to invest in his academy. A Bangalore-based kit company gives kits sometimes and the remaining portion of the required equipment and kits to the academy students are borne by Gouramangi. But he will not give up as he never used to give up on the field even against any top striker.
