Manchester City, who are trailing the Gunners by five points, will clash in a potentially decisive match at the top of the table against Arsenal on Wednesday. Pep Guardiola has urged Manchester City not to let the destiny of the Premier League title slip out of its hand.
Although City is trailing by five points they have two matches in hand along with home advantage as the sides meet at Etihad with an aim for their third consecutive title.
Initially, Guardiola was in doubt about his side’s hunger for dominating English football earlier in the season. Now they are on the verge of making a treble of trophies.
Manchester City will face Real Madrid next month in the Champions League semi-finals while they will take on their local rivals Manchester United in the FA Cup final on June 3.
At a pre-match press conference on Tuesday Guardiola said “When we started the season first game, second game, third game after winning back-to-back Premier Leagues, it is not a final. Now the last few months I have had the feelings FA Cup, Champions League, and Premier League that is the truth as we see the end is really close.”
Arsenal had a great start this season, showing the prospect of winning the title for the first time in 19 years, but Mikel Arteta’s side, after three consecutive draws, helped City to close down the difference.
Arteta, who worked as Guardiola’s assistant at Manchester City for three and a half years denied that this clash will be decisive. Guardiol also agreed with the rival coach but still could not deny the importance of landing a major blow to City’s title rival.
