Haney sets Asian Record, wins gold in Javelin

Sumit Antil shatters Asian Para Games record, World record and Asian record in the javelin throw event with a throw of 73.29m

17-year-old para athlete from India, Haney won gold medal by taking the top spot in Men's Javelin F37/38 final. This particular category is for the athletes with a moderately affected coordination and movement of one side. He threw a best of 55.97m in his 3rd attempt and with that, Haney broke the games record of 46.28m. Other Indian para athlete, Boby finished 6th in the same event with a 42.23m throw.

Earlier, Sumit Antil and Pushpendra Singh dominated the men's Javelin Throw-F64 final as the swiped gold and bronze medals respectively in the ongoing 4th Asian Para Games. Sumit shattered the Asian Para Games record, World record and Asian record in the event with a massive throw of 73.29m in his third attempt. Meanwhile Pushpendra Singh settled for bronze with a throw of 62.06m at the same event.

With this historic win, India are in the 5th spot claiming 36 medals with 10 gold, 12 silver and 14 bronze medals.
