Saugata Hansda’s brace in the 18th and 23rd minute not only stunned Mohun Bagan n their crucial CFL Premier Division tie on Sunday at their home but stopped the green-and-maroon brigade's winning streak in the ongoing CFL this season and put them in a hard task to reach the 'Super Six' stage.

Mohun Bagan who is stuck at 20 points after their 10th tie is now in a difficult situation as Diamond Harbour FC, Kalighat MS, and Mohammedan Sporting are also in a favourable position to ensure berths in the 'Super Six'. Mohun Bagan now, in their two forthcoming League matches, must have to earn six points (26 points) to keep hopes alive.

The Saugata Hansda, the man-of-the-match however revealed, “I can say this was the best moment. I just tried to follow our coach Ranjan Bhattaharya’s instruction and succeeded.”

He dedicated today's man-of-the-match award to his parents, but at the same time, the striker from Chanok village in Murshidabad paid gratitude to Ranjan Bhattacharya saying, "I became depressed during the lockdown as I was not getting an offer from any club. I continued training at my local ground. Ranjan sir first called me and offered to sign for George Telegraph. Today, after helping the team to earn three points I am feeling that I could pay something back to sir.”

Hansda who has scored five goals in the CFL so far, dreams of getting an offer from an ISL team. He stated, "Sunil Chhetri is my idol. I have a photograph also with him. I dream of playing in the ISL where he is one of the key footballers.”

Ranjan Bhattacharya, also a happy man, divulged, “Despite having dominated the opponents in our last few matches and created chances we had to concede defeats or split points. Before this match, I only tried to motivate my boys stating that performance against the teams like Mohun Bagan and East Bengal would help them to get good offers next season and it was the opportunity for them to prove their mettle."

He added, " I am happy that they fought till the end. Even, leading by two goals they pressed and created positive chances. We could have scored two more goals today.”
