Hazlewood was Australia’s best performer in Perth, picking up 4 for 29 in the first innings and 1 for 28 in 21 overs in the second innings.
Australia received a blow before their second Test of the series against India as fast bowler Josh Hazlewood has been ruled out due to side strain. Two uncapped bowlers have been called up in the probables for the second Test.
Brendan Doggett and Sean Abbott have been added to the squad for the pink-ball Test to be played at the Adelaide Oval, starting from 6th December.
However, Scott Boland is expected to come into the side, despite the fact that he played in a Test in July last year!
The 35-year-old will also be leading the bowling arsenal in the Prime Minister's XI match against India, a two-day day-night game at the Manuka Oval in Canberra.
With Australia 1-0 down and the loss of Hazlewood would raise some concerns as the right-handed fast bowler was Australia’s best performer in the first innings of the first Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test in Perth, picking 4-29 in the first, and also bowled a very economical spell in the second with 1-28 in 21 overs.
