'He has been forced to play this technique'; Pujara Says about Virat's Innings

Over his 10+ innings he has reached one solitary century. Now, on the third Test of the third day, he was dismissed in only three runs.

The 2024 calendar year hasn’t been action-packed for Virat Kohli. However, analysing the poor show, Cheteshwar Pujara pointed out that Kohli’s strength lies in playing the old ball, but his technique against the new ball remains a concern.

While speaking to Star Sports, Pujara stated, “We were discussing that he has been forced to play the new ball. He has gotten out whenever he has played the new ball. When he played the old ball, he scored a hundred in Perth. So that's also a very big point.”

Over his 10+ innings he has reached one solitary century. Now, on the third Test of the third day, he was dismissed in only three runs.

"His technique isn't made for the new ball. His batting should come after 10, 15, or 20 overs. If he plays the new ball, the bowlers are fresh, and their confidence is also high. When they get two wickets, the entire team is charged up," the Indian cricket team batter added.

Rain came to India’s rescue at Gabba, as most of Monday’s play was washed out. A struggling India limped to 51/4 at stumps, with only 17 overs bowled. Play was disrupted multiple times, with players leaving the field seven times due to persistent downpours.
