Her eyes are saturated with the dream

Gurleen drawn her Sporting inspiration from legeddary Sunil Chetri and Christiano Ronaldo

It is likely to be unimaginable that a 12 years old young Punjabi girl Gurleen Kaur desperately promoted herself in the U-16 squad of the Blue Tigresses. She had a wonderful dream to impersonate onto the International Football Arena by getting on nation’s prestigious jersey. This vibrant aspiring mind had come out into the ground just before blowing the final whistle of Friday’s SAFF U-16 Women’s Championship, held in Nepal.

Sharing her precious moment with AIFF's website Gurleen memorized “I wasn’t nervous at all. My parents watched my debut. They told me on the phone that they are proud to be see me playing for the country”.

The head coach of Indian U-16 Women’s squad, Boby Thomas heaped huge praise on her. He rectified that “Gurleen is not even a teenager and yet she’s rubbing shoulders with girls three to four years older than her. It’s not usual to have such young players in what is already in the youngest age group national team. But there are no two ways about it. She is good enough to be here. If we provide her the right path now, she will have a brilliant future ahead and can become a great striker. She is very sensible, mature and confident for her age. With every minute she plays, she will have to growing up into a better player”.

Beside this, the seventh standard student from Ludhiana district significantly pointed out “I love playing as a striker I love shooting and scoring goals, but I also want to help my team, so I like to play passing game too. My inspiration is Sunil Chetri. Internationally, I like Christiano Ronaldo. I Began playing when I was five. My father wanted me to play sports. I started with football for a year, then switched to boxing, but I didn’t generate my interest. So, I come back to devote my self with the ball. I played in an academy at Chakar, a village just three kilometers from my home”.

The Ludhiana District team and Punjab state team named her for the Sub Junior Girls National Football Championship which was organized in Amritsar in the last year. Interestingly she found the back of the net for three times in this game.
