Historic Feat for Indian U-19 Spinner; Claims Nation's First Hat-Trick in the U-19 T20 World Cup

India’s next group match is against Sri Lanka. Following their Asia Cup triumph over Bangladesh a few weeks ago, the Indian women have carried their winning momentum into the World Cup.

The Indian Women’s U-19 cricket team has clinched a resounding 10-wicket victory over Malaysia in their second match in the ICC U-19 T20 World Cup. This comes after a dominant performance in their opening game against the West Indies.

The Indian bowlers wreaked havoc from the start, bundling Malaysia out for a mere 31 runs. In Kuala Lumpur, Indian captain Niki Prasad won the toss and opted to field. None of the Malaysian batters could reach double figures, with the team’s top scorer, Noor Alia Binti Hairun, managing just 5 runs, including the only boundary of the innings. Remarkably, Malaysia’s total included 11 extras, more than any individual batter's contribution.

Leading the charge for India was debutant Vaishnavi Sharma, who claimed a stunning five-wicket haul, conceding only 5 runs in her 4 overs, including a hat trick. She was ably supported by Ayushi Shukla, who took 3 wickets for 8 runs in 3.3 overs, and Vijay Jositha, who claimed 1 wicket while giving away just 5 runs in 2 overs.

India chased down the target in just 2.5 overs without losing a wicket. Gangadi Trisha smashed 27 not out off 12 balls, including 5 boundaries, while her opening partner, G. Kamalini, scored 4 runs off 5 balls. With this emphatic victory, achieved with 103 balls to spare, India secured their spot in the Super Six stage of the tournament.

Earlier in the tournament, India defeated the West Indies by bundling them out for just 44 runs, showcasing their bowling dominance. In the game against Malaysia, they bettered that performance with an even more commanding display.

India’s next group match is against Sri Lanka. Following their Asia Cup triumph over Bangladesh a few weeks ago, the Indian women have carried their winning momentum into the World Cup, setting a strong foundation for the rest of the tournament.
