The Olympic sensation Vinesh Phogat, even after being disqualified from the gold bout, won the hearts of millions of Indians. On Sunday, she was honoured with a gold medal from Sarvkhap Panchayat, Haryana. 

Phogat indicating this event stated that - “My fight has not ended, it has rather just begun. The fight for our daughters’ honour has just started. We said the same thing during our sit-in,”. As Vinesh was a part of the protest, last year the Haryanavi wrestlers launched over the sexual harassment allegations against the then chief of the Wrestling Federation of India and BJP leader Brijbhushan Sharan Singh. 

Vinesh in her touching speech motivated the community to encourage and support the young women sportspersons from the beginning. 

She further expressed her gratitude towards her community stating - “I will forever be indebted for this honour which is above any medal,”.

Previously Phogat’s Olympics coach, Woller Akos gave out a detailed description of the excruciating training she has to go through for the weight-cutting process. He later deleted the post on Facebook. Phogat’s appeal for the silver medal was also dismissed by the CAS on Wednesday.
