The AIFF is optimistic that the discussion in Monday’s executive meeting will bring the solution for the I-League clubs.
I-League Clubs association once again demanded the top broadcasting company for the live telecast of the forthcoming I-League, scheduled to kick off on 22nd November.
In a virtual media conference on Saturday, the president of the I-League clubs' association, Ranjit Bajaj (Delhi FC) again disclosed how the clubs have been repeatedly appealing to the All India Football Federation (AIFF) to rope in a popular broadcaster for the live telecast of the I-League 2024-25.
The repeated requests are on since June this year. Along with sending repeated emails to the AIFF (the last email was sent to AIFF Secretary Anil Kumar on Saturday), the I-League club owners had also discussions with the AIFF secretariat thrice where they were given only the promise
Their initiative even propelled the country's one of the top broadcasting companies to show willingness to beam the League matches live. However, the AIFF has decided to give commercial rights to Shrachi Sports. It is believed that the company will beam the I-League matches through its own app as well as in the Doordarshan.
Significantly, the final agreement between Shrachi Sports and the AIFF has not yet been signed. The executive committee members are sitting at Hyderabad on Monday only on this agenda. The final agreement with Shrachi Sports is believed to be signed within a couple of days after the meeting.
It is also believed the Federation's top brass is also trying to develop a back-up if the agreement with Shrachi Sports does not take place. The AIFF is optimistic that the discussion in Monday’s executive meeting will bring the solution for the I-League clubs.
Bajaj also revealed that how AIFF is going to destroy the I-League by introducing state franchise leagues and the promotion of teams to the ISL from those leagues. But according to an AIFF official, the key reason behind introducing state franchise leagues is to generate money for the game. However according to AIFF plans are in preliminary stage.
Now, I-League clubs have no option other than waiting for AIFF's response. The clubs who will be participating in their respective away matches have already booked flight tickets, and hotels.
More than Rs 100 crores have already been invested by the clubs in total. Amidst the situation, the club owners have reportedly decided to wait for around two more weeks.
But if any popular broadcasting company is not given the televising rights of the I-League, the clubs might move to court also.
