SC Bengaluru is starting in the I-league with an away match on 22nd November against Inter Kashi at Naihati Stadium. Their opening home-match is scheduled for the 4th of December.
The debutant in the upcoming I-League, Sporting Club (nicknamed Golden Tigers) has a plan to make their debut in the League memorable across Bangalore. That is to invite legendary Sunil Chhetri before the match and request him to have some motivational words for the footballers.
The club's CEO and Co-owner Kishore S. Reddy when asked about the plans replied, "We will try. If Sunil is not occupied on the particular day then he might nod to our request as Bengaluru FC (BFC) has always been supportive of us. Even they have allowed us to rope in one of their footballers, Salam Johnson on loan."
SC Bengaluru is starting in the I-league with an away match on 22nd November against Inter Kashi at Naihati Stadium. Their opening home-match is scheduled for the 4th of December.
They will play their home match at Bangalore Stadium which is presently going through a few renovations and will be ready before the team’s first home match.
SC Bengaluru has already acquired an impressive statistics by ensuring a berth in the elite I-league within only three seasons the club began its journey.
Looking back to their campaign in the I-League qualifiers this season (Second Division I-League) the Golden Tigers won 11 matches and lost only twice out of their 14 scheduled matches.
That might be the reason the club has retained the coach Chinta Chandrashekhar whose guidance steered the team to win I-League-2. In a bid to carry on the same consistency in the I-league, the club has also retained almost three-fourth of the footballers played last season and in the I-league-2.
Even though, SC Bengaluru is going to rope in three foreigners, one of whom has participated in a top European league according to the club's top brass, Chinta Chaadrashekhar disclosed, “We will try to look at Indian footballers, especially the footballers like Thomiyo L. Shimray and Arif Shaikh who scored most of the goals for SC Bengaluru in the I-league-2. Foreign footballers indeed make a difference in the I-League.”
He continued, "Still, I believe our local footballers have enough potential to change the complexion of the matches."
Chinta however is satisfied with the boys' preparation, going on for the last three weeks. The team also had taken part in a couple of preparatory matches in the neighboring state.
Meanwhile, Kishore thanked the All India Football Federation's (AIFF) effort to rope in broadcaster to show the I-league matches live this season stating, "It will help us a lot. If the matches are shown live then we will also get sponsorships."
